Wrinkled and spotted skin could be a result of normal aging, exposure to sunlight (photoaging), pollution or loss of support from subcutaneous tissue. Stress, obesity and sleep pattern are all related to skin aging in some or other way. As one grows older, some changes occur naturally like skin becomes rougher and loses its elasticity. Moreover, the skin begins to turn transparent. This happens when epidermis becomes thin due to the flattening of the area near epidermis and lining of the dermis.
Aging can also be explained in a different way; there are three parameters of aging:
Chronological age is the number of years a person has lived. Biological age refers to how old a person looks. It depends on several factors like genetics, lifestyle, sleep habits and exercise. Also, it reflects the condition of internal organs and overall fitness. One might get old at the age of 40, while others might experience it at the age of 70. Lastly, psychological age refers to mental age, i.e., how one acts and feels. One, who is at 70, but is still fit, enthusiastic, has a positive attitude towards life, hopeful about future and flexible enough to quickly adapt to changes, should be considered young psychologically.
