Recently, health guidelines were announced at a conference of the American Heart Association (AHA) in Anaheim, California.

The new guidelines dropped the threshold for high blood pressure, which ultimately made nearly 30 million Americans fall into the category of people with high blood pressure. In other words, nearly half of the U.S. adults now have the problem of high blood pressure.

According to heart specialists, the high blood pressure rate is 140 at the top and 90 for the bottom.

The alteration in the guidelines resulted in an extra 14 percent of the adults in the U.S. with the issue high blood pressure. However, according to doctors, out of the above additional 14 percent, only 2 percent of them needs medication and the rest needs to switch to a healthy lifestyle.

With the rise in blood pressure level, risks for other related health problems also increases that include heart diseases and stroke.
