A recent report suggested that heavy workouts could help increase memory of a person.
The study was published in Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, which found that intense workout could help in elevating the memory level. Research was performed on over 95 healthy young adults and reported that an intense workout for 20 minutes a day for six weeks could lead to improvement in high interference memory of a person.
Scientists from Canada also reported that regular workouts result in increase in the protein that is required for growth, function and survival of brain.
This study is beneficial, as the people with old age are commonly affected with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Thus, if these people get involved in any kind of exercise or workout, then their chances of memory loss would minimize. This has been inferred by researchers from McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario.
Now, researchers are aiming at investigating the link between exercise and mental training with high interference memory in old-age people.
Study author, Jennifer Heisz, assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology at McMaster University, said, “One hypothesis is that we will see greater benefits for older adults, given that this type of memory declines with age.”
