Jillian Michaels, in her recent blog reveals her secrets to burn belly fat and get a flat tummy or toned six pack abs. She mentions some of the misconceptions about belly fat burning, such as spot fat reduction – targeting fat at a specific point like belly. She writes, “You can’t spot reduce fat. So, forget belly fat burning foods or exercises that only target your abs.”
She also bashes the ‘Abs are made in kitchen’ misconception, and says that the statement isn’t completely correct, and exercise is the best way to burn the belly fat. She writes, “Yes, diet is critical, but what’s hiding those sinewy abdominals is subcutaneous fat. So, to see that washboard of yours we have to burn off the fat and exercise is the best way to accomplish that.”
In her blog, she further mentions some of the effective tips to burn belly fat. Her belly fat burning tips are listed below:
- She suggests that instead of doing hours of cardio and loads of crunches, one must go for high-intensity interval training (HIIT) Workout, weight training and compound exercises, such as pushups and squat thrusters in order to get a toned belly. According to her, this’ll not just burn the belly fat, but also help to tone the whole body.
- She also advises to control and limit the consumption of alcohol, processed sugar, sodium content, and refined flour as these items trigger the production of hormones like cortisol and insulin in the body. These hormones are mainly responsible for the deposition of fat in the belly and results in a round tummy. She writes, “Now, while there aren’t foods that literally target burning belly fat, there are foods that can drive the production of certain hormones that can trigger our body to store more fat on our tummy.”
- One of her suggestions include drinking enough water. She says that drinking water could help improve the metabolism of fat by about 3%, and helps in the cleansing of excessive bloat from the body. She opines, “The key is to drink water until your pee looks like lemonade. If it looks like apple juice keep drinking.”
- She recommends the consumption of foods rich in vitamin C, since such foods can inhibit the production of cortisol in the body. According to her, one should eat citrus fruits, such as berries as these are a great source of vitamin C.
