Founder of the Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev or commonly known as Sadhguru is an Indian yogi and mystic. He has touched the lives of a lot of people and bought well-being to them. Besides being a yogi, he is a poet, author, philanthropist, motivational speaker, and a spiritual master. He is a true guru working for the society and has helped numerous people by promoting their physical, mental and spiritual health. He also helps people overcome their problems and move towards the right path. Also, his Isha Foundation works towards promoting yoga and spirituality and the welfare of society and’Rally for Rivers’ the environment.
Sadhguru did his schooling from Demonstration School, Mysore and graduated with bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Mysore. At the age of 25 years, he experienced something spiritual at Chamundi Hill while sitting on a rock. He describes this event as a turning point in his life. He started the Isha Foundation in the year 1992 in Coimbatore.
The Isha Foundation works on various society welfare programs with an aim to make the world a better place to live. Some of the initiatives of the foundation are ‘Isha Vidhya’, that aims to educate underprivileged children, ‘Project GreenHands’ that aims to increase the green cover of Tamil Nadu by planting more trees, and ‘Rally for Rivers’ that aims to revive the dying (dried up) rivers of India. Also, the foundation works in association with several international organizations like the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
Today, Sadhguru is a renowned name, not just in Indian but in the other countries of the world too. He delivered a speech at the United Nations Millennium World Peace Summit held in 2000. He is known for his motivational speeches. He has also addressed the World Economic Forum several times.
