If you are trying to lose weight, then your social media activities might help you to achieve your aim.
A recent research, published in the Journal of Interactive Marketing, proved that sharing the success and obstacles in the success on social media help people to remain stick to their path of losing weight. The study included 33 people, who were regular in their program of weight loss either by surgical or nonsurgical way. These people posted their weight loss activities and related stories with a strict routine on social media. The researchers studied their experiences and followed these people for four years.
The study researcher, Sonya Grier, Professor of Marketing, American University, Washington, D.C stated, “The sharing of intimate information and photos about weight-loss goals in virtual space is a key factor in motivating behaviors that fulfill that new thinner identity and thus helps people reach their goals.”
The researcher also mentioned that it is not easy to get support from the community in which, the people are interacting, but social media activities could help them in developing a community, who would praise them and support their activities. This type of support and praises is more likely to motivate the people and help them achieve their goals. She further supported her statement by saying, “It is helpful that technology can support community building and goal achievement in virtual spaces.”
