Research proves peanuts might control symptoms of type 2 diabetes

A recent research reported that the symptoms for diabetes type 2 could be controlled by eating peanuts. Peanuts help manage blood sugar level throughout the day.

Peanuts were found to control the blood sugar level and reduce sudden rise of Blood insulin level even after having meal. This is possible because of the low glycemic content of peanuts, due to which, it takes more time for the carbohydrates in peanut to get converted into glucose.

According to a Brazil study in 2013, eating toast with peanut butter reduces the urge of eating more.

The researchers concluded that consumption of nuts is associated with reduced risk of type 2 diabetes. Taking peanuts or peanut butter in breakfast could help in the regulation of glucose concentration.

It is also mentioned in the research that peanuts have high concentration of magnesium, which is responsible in the maintenance of blood sugar level. A single serving of peanuts is equivalent to 12% of daily recommended magnesium.

Peanuts are also linked to other diabetes-related diseases like risk of cardiovascular diseases. Peanuts help lower the blood pressure and thus, reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Nonetheless, the consumption of peanuts must be in moderate amount, since they are rich source of omega-6 fatty acids. Omega-6 fat is known to increase inflammation that could worsen the symptoms of diabetes. Because of their high calorific value, peanuts can also lead to weight gain.
