Almonds

The second on the list is almonds. Kimberly has already discussed about almond smoothie. It has a high content of calcium and vitamin E, which scavenges free radicals. Free radicals lead to aging.

Vitamin E consumption prevents this damage and protects our skin. It helps keep the skin bright, rejuvenated and fresh. Almonds are as good as almond milk. It’s so tasty that you can have it any time.

You can add it in your tea. You can even warm it and add turmeric or cloves. You can soak almonds in water overnight and then, rinse it. Have it as a snack. It makes for a really great food for the skin.

Chia Seeds

Kimberly’s third pick is chia seeds. These are hydrophilic in nature and absorb plenty of water. Put them into water and they attain a gel-like consistency. You can add this gel to your smoothie and call it chia pudding.

But, what makes these chia seeds great for the skin? Well, they are laden with omega-3 fatty acids. These fats keep the skin supple and smooth. Without these fats, the skin becomes dry and gets cracked. The skin also loses its suppleness. These provide antioxidants and minerals. It is great for your skin.

Pineapple

Pineapple is rich in vitamin C. And not only this, it has an enzyme, called bromelain, which works as a detoxifying agent. It helps digest protein well. When the body is free of toxins and is deeply cleansed, our skin looks more beautiful.

You can even eat it on an empty stomach, says Kimberly. Summers are that period of a year when you need to take hydrating fruits. And, what else could be best than pineapple!

Tomatoes

Another skin-friendly food, recommended by Kimberly, is tomatoes. Tomatoes are just fantastic for the skin. You can even grow them. These have lycopene – an amazing antioxidant. Lycopene is particularly beneficial for warmer months, when you need to protect yourself from sun damage.

Kimberly mentions of a study, which indicated that the fraction of sunburns got reduced by 40% after the consumption of 40 gm of tomatoes. This provided around 16 mg of lycopene for a period of 10 weeks. Research also suggested that lycopene is better absorbed when cooked, so you can have tomato sauce.
