How to Stay Hydrated: Guide by Dr. Oz

Our body keeps losing water through various processes such as sweating, peeing, and breathing. An average person loses about 10 to 11 cups of water every day. Thus, it is necessary to recover this loss to maintain the overall health. Water plays an important role in providing nutrients and eliminating toxins. It also helps in regulating the temperature of the body, promoting digestion, and boosting health of the skin.

One of the most common advice that you get is to drink eight glasses of water every day. This can help in keeping your body hydrated. Water needs may vary from person to person. However, as estimated by the Institute of Medicine, women and men living in a temperate climate require about 9 cups and 13 cups of water every day, respectively. Also, fluids like coffee and juices add up to the total requirement, but water remains the best fluid to keep your body hydrated.

Here are some tips by Dr. Mehmet Oz that can help you stay hydrated. These are:

1. Carry a collapsible water bottle: This a possible solution for carrying enough water with. These are lightweight and can fold flat as you drink water from them. Besides being refillable, these bottles can be carried in your bag.

2. Keep a note of time: You simply need to buy two big water bottles and mark the bottles with time increments and amount of water intake. This will help you keep a check whether you are drinking enough water according to the defined time intervals. This can be helpful for keeping the body hydrated all day. You’ll be able to keep a record of the amount of water you are drinking during the course of the day.

3. Go for chilled water: Dr. Oz says nothing is more delicious than a chilled cup of water. But, how to keep the water chilled for a long time? Well, there is a solution for this, all you need to do is fill a quarter of bottle and then put it in the freezer overnight. The next morning you can fill the remaining part of the bottle. The water will stay chilled for a longer time and you can enjoy cold water on the way.

4. Make twists: You don’t always need to drink plain water. Instead you can add a slice of lemon, cucumber, orange, or lime to enhance its taste. Also, the best part is that these things can add flavor to your drink without adding any extra calories to it.
